As part of my work at NewCo, a algorithmic trading company, I designed two projects that exemplify expertise in crafting intuitive and effective user interfaces. The first is a sophisticated system for trading in the stock market, providing a comprehensive view of current financial status. The second is a dual-purpose interface that enables seamless initiation of algorithmic stock trades and simulations to test strategies. Both projects balance complex functionalities with user-friendly design, ensuring a smooth and engaging user experience.

Introduction

The Problem
Internal management of investments in an algorithmic trading company is complex. Team members face difficulties in tracking and analyzing data, hindering efficient decision-making. Moreover, integrating these insights into the investor's portfolio adds another layer of challenge, risking delays and errors. Additionally, traders and researchers need a platform that allows them to easily start trades with a set of configurations and modify these settings seamlessly. The same requirements apply to running simulations.
The Solution
The system simplifies internal investment management with a robust simulator and real-time data analytics dashboard. Team members can easily access and analyze investment data, facilitating informed decision-making. Seamless integration into investor portfolios ensures timely updates and accuracy. Additionally, the platform enables traders and researchers to start and adjust trades and simulations with configurable settings, enhancing both live trading and strategy testing.
Competitive Analysis
Market research conclusions
Broker platforms often provide valuable resources such as real-time market data, research reports, and analytical tools.

Users can track their entire portfolio's performance, including gains, losses, and asset allocation, through a single, easy-to-use dashboard.

New users may find broker platforms overwhelming due to the sheer volume of available features and tools, which can be intimidating for beginners.

The abundance of data, charts, and analytical tools can lead to information overload, making it difficult for users to focus on essential aspects of trading.

User Research
Persona 1- David Haim (Developer)

Goals and Needs
1. Efficient Testing: Dave needs a system that allows him to efficiently test and validate his algorithms using a simulator.
2. Real-time Data: He requires access to real-time data on the company's portfolio to analyze the performance of his algorithms accurately.
Challenges
1. Complex Data Analysis: Dave faces challenges in analyzing complex data sets generated by the simulator, requiring intuitive visualization tools for better comprehension.
2. Time Constraints: With tight project deadlines, Dave needs a system that saves time and allows him to iterate on algorithmic improvements quickly.
Background
Dave is a software developer
working at an algorithmic trading company.
He has a strong background in coding and is responsible for developing and testing algorithms for the company's investment strategies.

Persona 2- Emily Kogan (Investor)

Background
Emily is an investor who entrusts
her investments to an algorithmic trading company. She has a background in finance but relies on the expertise of the company to manage her portfolio effectively.
Challenges
Information Overload- Emily faces challenges in dealing with large volumes of investment data, requiring the system to present information in a concise and digestible format.
Goals and Needs
1. Portfolio Visibility: Emily seeks a system that provides comprehensive visibility into her investments, including real-time updates on portfolio performance and individual asset holdings.
2. Profit and Loss Analysis: She needs easy access to her overall profit and loss (P&L) statement to assess the performance of her investments over time.
